Research and Publications

Dr. Spear has published extensively on various aspects of plastic surgery and has testified as an expert regarding breast implants in front of Congress and the Food and Drug Administration. He has published over 229 papers and chapters, given 103 presentations, participated in 547 invited lectures, panels, and courses, and authored the textbook Surgery of the Breast: Principles and Art. He is the breast section editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and his opinions are featured in many media forums such as the New York Times, The Washington Post, National Public Radio, CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS.
